Ecommerce SEO and GEO for online stores
We optimise online stores for Google and for AI answers: technical setup, category and product pages, structured data, product feeds and measurement. Your products should be found, and named in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Gemini. Sharobella is an official Shopify Partner, has been building online stores since 2018 and implements technical improvements itself, with its own team.
How shop SEO differs from general SEO
An online store has traits a company website does not: many product pages, variants, filters, changing prices and stock levels, often several markets. These create search problems of their own, such as duplicate URLs, thin category pages or product data that differs between the page and the feed. This page describes how we solve them for stores. General search engine optimisation for businesses, including local SEO, is covered by our SEO agency page.
On top of that, many buying decisions now start with a question to ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity, or with an AI overview in Google. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) means your store and products are built and documented so that AI systems can understand them, link to them as a source and recommend them. GEO does not replace SEO, it builds on it: the same clean technology and clear content, plus unambiguous brand facts, consistent product data and a measurement of your AI visibility.
What ecommerce SEO and GEO covers with us
Six areas for search, five for AI answers. Which of them come first for you is decided by a first look at your store.
Technical setup: crawling, indexing and speed
Google sees the right pages, and sees them fast.
We check which of your pages Google crawls and indexes and which it does not: sitemaps, robots.txt, redirects, status codes and content that only loads in the browser. We also look at load time and Core Web Vitals, which in shops are often slowed down by apps, scripts and large images. We implement technical findings ourselves, with our development team, in the theme or the shop configuration.
Variants, filters and duplicate URLs
One page per search, not many copies.
Variants, collection paths, sort orders and filter combinations quickly create many URLs for the same content. We decide which filters deserve a page of their own that can be indexed, because people search for them, and which stay out of the index through canonical tags or noindex. We check pagination and canonical tags so that products deep in a category stay reachable. If you sell in several countries or languages, we set up hreflang and the market versions cleanly.
Structured data for products, prices and reviews
Machines read your product data without guessing.
We build Product, Offer and Breadcrumb markup with price, availability, product identifiers and shipping details, plus Organization data for your business. We only mark up reviews when genuine reviews appear on the page. Every detail has to match what visitors see and what is in your product feed. We validate with Google's testing tools and in Merchant Center.
Category and product pages
The pages where revenue is made.
Category pages get a clear search logic: title, heading, an intro text that helps with the choice, and links to subcategories. Product pages need their own descriptions instead of manufacturer copy, specifications in a table, images with meaningful alt text and links to matching products. We do not write this from a template, but from what your customers actually search for and ask.
Search intent, content and internal linking
Every search has one fitting page.
We assign search terms to pages: someone searching for "running shoes" should land on the category, someone asking how to choose them on a guide. That way your own pages do not compete with each other. Guides, comparisons and FAQ content support the categories, and internal links lead visitors and search engines from there to the products.
Data from Search Console and Analytics
We decide based on your numbers.
Google Search Console shows what your store already appears for, where pages get many impressions but few clicks and which pages are not in the index. Analytics shows which landing pages bring revenue. That sets the order of the work: first the pages where a change pays off.
Brand and shop facts AI systems understand
Who you are, what you sell, where you ship.
AI systems combine statements from many sources. When details are missing or contradict each other, a store is either not named or named wrongly. We state company name, range, delivery regions, shipping, returns and contact clearly and identically: on your website, in the Organization markup, in the Google Business Profile, in Merchant Center and on the profiles where your store is listed.
Answer first: content that can be cited
Short, verifiable answers to real customer questions.
We write categories, guides and FAQs so that the answer comes first and the evidence follows: dimensions, materials, compatibility, delivery time, comparison. An AI system can take such a section over without losing the context. The questions come from your customer service, from Search Console and from what your customers actually ask.
Product feeds and product data
The same facts in feed, page and markup.
Search systems also get price, availability and product attributes from the product feed for Google Merchant Center. We reconcile feed, markup and page, add required details and product identifiers such as GTIN and keep the attributes complete. We use the same feed for Google Shopping in ecommerce marketing, so both work from one data source.
Reviews and trust signals
Real voices instead of claimed quality.
Reviews on product pages and on independent platforms are a signal for buying decisions and for AI answers. We set up the collection and display of genuine reviews and connect them to the markup. We do not buy or invent reviews and we mark up nothing that is not on the page.
Measuring AI visibility
See whether and where your store is named.
We agree with you on the questions your customers ask, per market and language, and regularly check in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini whether your store is named or linked, which sources appear instead and which of your pages are cited. We clarify with you which AI crawlers may read your pages, and we evaluate visits from AI sources in Analytics. AI answers change from query to query, so we judge trends, not single results.
Shop, agent and marketing from one team
Many SEO providers look at your store from the outside and hand over a list. We build and maintain stores ourselves. So we implement findings directly in the theme, the configuration or the feed, instead of passing them to your IT or another agency.
Development lays down the structure search systems read well. Marketing uses the same product data for Google Shopping and campaigns. An AI agent in the store draws on the same catalogue. And ongoing support keeps all of it current when range, prices and promotions change. That saves coordination and stops three providers from solving the same problem three different ways.
How we work
- Free first call and audit. We look at your store's technology, pages, product data, Search Console data and AI visibility.
- A plan by effort and impact. You get a list of concrete measures in a sensible order. What does not pay off, we cut openly.
- Implementation. In the theme, the feed and the content, by our team or in coordination with yours.
- Measurement and reporting. Search Console, Analytics and AI visibility. We explain what changed and why.
- Continued work. As ongoing support or as individual projects, without a long minimum term.
What we do not promise
We cannot guarantee positions, neither in Google nor in AI answers. No agency controls which sources ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity name. We make sure your store is technically clean, clear in its content and well documented, and we measure what changes. Expect several months before an effect shows. SEO also needs demand: if hardly anyone searches for your products, another channel makes more sense first.
What does it cost?
It depends on the number of products, categories, markets and languages, on the state of the store and on whether we implement or only advise. Two forms are common: an audit with an implementation plan as a defined project, or ongoing support. After the free first call you receive an offer at a fixed price for the agreed scope. We do not quote flat prices, because without a look at your store they would not be honest.
